Downloading .m files and can not bring up in matlab

Hi community,
I am using the Matlab academic license. My professors put files on our E-learning site for us to download and view. They are .m files. I downloaded the first one and opened it with WordPad accidently. And now every time I re-download .m files it saves them as a WordPad files so I am not able to open them in Matlab files because it looks for matlab specific files not WordPad files. Then on top of that I am not able to copy and paste the code from the WordPad to Matlab so I would have to tediously copy all the code. Is there anyway to reset the type of file it downloads to or anyway to copy code from Word/WordPad to a Matlab script. Thanks.

I’m not certain this will solve your particular issue, but MATLAB File Association Fix is highly reviewed and frequently downloaded.
