Résumé du poste
Join our EMEA Aerospace & Defence team and help transform the way complex engineering systems are designed, developed, and validated.
As a Senior Application Engineer at MathWorks, you will act as a senior technical partner to leading aerospace and defence organisations, working directly with system architects, design authorities, and engineering leaders. You will leverage your industry experience to support digital engineering and model‑based design transformation initiatives using MATLAB® and Simulink®.
In this role, you will engage on mission‑critical, system‑of‑systems programs, often involving sensing, signal processing, communications, embedded software & FGPA, and real‑time constraints. You will contribute at system and architecture level, helping organisations modernise their engineering practices, improve system understanding and verification, and scale model‑based approaches across programs and teams. Your technical insight and engineering judgment will directly influence customer projects and help shape the future direction of MathWorks solutions
Mission
- Engage with senior technical stakeholders, from engineers to chief engineers and engineering managers, to understand complex systems, engineering constraints, and long‑term objectives.
- Contribute to system‑level engineering discussions, including architecture trade‑offs, system decomposition, interfaces, and verification strategies, leveraging model‑based design and simulation.
- Deliver strategic technical engagements with customers, applying MATLAB® and Simulink® to support modelling, simulation, and algorithm development for complex systems such as:
- signal processing and sensor‑based systems
- communications and data‑link architectures
- embedded and real‑time systems operating under performance and integration constraints
- Support digital engineering transformation initiatives, helping organisations evolve their engineering practices toward more integrated, model‑based and simulation‑driven approaches across the full system lifecycle.
- Demonstrate and recommend best practices using MATLAB®, Simulink®, and related tools to address real industrial challenges in aerospace and defence programs.
- Build and maintain trusted, long‑term technical relationships with customer engineering teams across programs, organisations, and sites.
- Advocate for customer engineering needs internally, providing structured feedback that helps influence product strategy and future capabilities.
- Collaborate with sales, application engineering, and product teams to support account strategies and ensure coherent, high‑impact technical engagement.
Qualifications minimales
- A bachelor's degree and 6 years of professional work experience (or a master's degree and 3 years of professional work experience, or a PhD degree, or equivalent experience) is required.
- Knowledge of Model-Based Design
Qualifications supplémentaires
- Professional experience in the Aerospace & Defence industry, contributing to complex, mission‑critical systems involving sensing, signal processing, communications, or embedded systems
- Hands‑on or architectural experience using MATLAB® and Simulink®. for modelling, simulation, algorithm development, or system analysis
- System‑level understanding spanning algorithms, software, hardware, and integration
- Experience working in large, multi‑stakeholder engineering environments with strong technical governance
- Ability to scope, lead, and deliver multiple technical engagements concurrently
- Willingness to travel across Europe (typically 1–2 days per week)
