Say i have a matrix A which is 10,000 x 60 x60
and a matrix B=60x60 logical.
I want to apply some function to A but only in the indices of B
in bad code my objective is
A=A[:,B]*3
ie. in the y z plane only multiply by 3 if the B value is true.
I've looked at many similar answers but have not been succesful in getting this to work.

You can manipulate B to be the same size as A and then use B as a logical index into A:

AA = reshape(A, 10000, 360);
C = AA(:, B) * 3;
Afterwards you cannot reshape C to an (10000 x 60 x 60) matriux anymore, because it has less elements.
You have written: "ie. in the y z plane only multiply by 3 if the B value is true." This is something else:
AA = reshape(A, 10000, 360);
AA(:, B) = AA(:, B) * 3;
C = reshape(AA, 10000, 60, 60);
The idea is to reshape the dimension to apüply the mask on into one dimension, such that logical indexing works directly. Afterwards you can reset the original shape.
Remember that reshape is very fast, because it does not touch the data, but only the tine size vector.
