Dear all,
I am wondering if one could compile the fortran files to mex using gfortran like in Ubuntu, but now using WSL environment on windows 10 ?
If yes, this would be great help to avoid installing XE and VS 2017
Thanks :)

Is it possible ? Googling, posts say Yes. For example https://groups.google.com/g/comp.lang.fortran/c/e-tK0J7fHJM?pli=1
I am far from certain it would be worth the hastles.
(... unless perhaps you are in circumstances that are blocked by the Visual Studios Community license and the Intel XE free licenses. Which is something that I have run into. Those licenses both consider my volunteer assistance here to be outside the scope of "hobby" because the appropriate license test is "personal use" rather than "free". It would cost me about $CDN 10000 per year to maintain the licenses to be able to use them in my volunteer work. So I just don't... I pass on questions that require using those licenses.)

previous posts have tended to suggest that it is possible but not simple.
