App installed by mlappinstaller doesn't show app icon in MATLAB app bar

When I install my mlapp using the packaged mlappinstall file, the selected app icon does not appear in the app bar. My app icon is a 64x64 png in the same directory as the mlapp file. It has been selected as the app icon via Designer/App Details/Select a custom image, via Component Browser/app.UIFigure/Identifiers/Icon, and via Designer/Share/MATLAB App/Select Screenshot. It shows up in the top left of the app when it is launched, but not in the apps bar in the primary MATLAB window. Instead the default app icon shows up as in the attached image.

Did you select the image of the icon here (see image below)? This is the one that is used to display the app in the app bar. Adding this should create a folder called <yourapp'sname>_resources where there are 3 files, icon_16.png, icon_48.png, and icon_24.png.

Is this valid in 2025B ? The entire App package workflow seems to have changed ? I no longer can get the custom icon.

In 2025b, you will need to create a project and then select Compiler Task Manager.

Then select Standalone Application. You will then see options to upload an icon image.

Is there any plans for MATLAB 2025b or later to restore the ability for the user to change the icon of user generated apps? I was able to change the icon for the Standalone Application, but I would also like to be able to change the icon of the app within MATLAB in the Apps Toolstrip:
