MCR 8.4 compatibility issue with Windows 10

Hi,

I created a standalone MATLAB application with MATLAB R2014b, using MATLAB compiler version 5.2 (also R2014b). The machine is Windows 7 64bit.

To install the application on another machine, I need MCR 8.4. I provide MCR 8.4 together with the installer of the application (runtime included in the package). When installed on a Windows 7 machine, everything runs smoothly. However, if I then install the application and MCR on a Windows 10 machine, the GUI is incredibly slow (wait for 10 seconds or more after pushing a button)... Calculations and such run fast though

Is there a compatibility issue between MCR8.4 (note: not downloaded from the web, but provided through my MATLAB R2014b) and Windows 10? Or are there solutions to speed up the GUI (e.g. compiling from a MATLAB 2016 version)?
