Is it possible to use the same k-means colour results across multiple images?

Hello, In regards to this article ( K-Means segmentation ) I was hoping I could ask is it possible to use this extract say 3 colours. And then classify a similar, but different image based on the same identified colours?

I would like to identify the most common colours in a large dataset of images and then reduce them all down to a handful of the same palette
