Is it Possible to use actxcontrol on an app designer figure?

I would like to use a piece of hardware(DataRay Beam Profiler) with my GUI I am making in app designer.

The interface with the device is based on active x and some example code was provided that works with GUIDE, however I cannot get the active x control (actxcontrol) to attatch to the app designer figure.

It keeps throwing an error (Dot indexing is not supported for variables of this type) when I give it the handle for the appdesigner UIFigure but not when it is given a regular figure.

I have read online that some of the interactive parts of figures were removed from app designer figures but I was wondering if it is still possible to use actxcontol on app designer figures?
