Could anyone help me how to overcome the error

I am getting error stating Error using legend Unknown property: NumColumns.
with respect to the command line
legend({'y','z','l','m'},'Location','northwest','NumColumns',2)
Could anyone please help me on this.

You need to upgrade to R2018a to use that feature.

Is there any other commands which work in 2015a without upgrading to 2018a.
