I used to be able to see "Command Window" and "Command History" at the same time, now I must switch back and forth?

The help article says to type commandhistory, or to select Environment->Layout->CommandHistory->Docked, but this produces a situation where I must toggle back and forth. I used to be able to drag commands from the Command History window into the Command Window. Extremely handy. Is the capability lost, or am I doin' it wrong?

If you bring the Command History to the top you can grab the top edge of that window (where the title 'Command History' is) and drag it around in the main Matlab window to put it in a different position (like on the right or left side) from the Command Window so that you can see both at the same time. For example, this is how I have my Matlab window layed out (I sized down the whole window to fit better here but it shows the layout):
