Can i install/activate 2013 Student with a purchased 2017 Student license?

Hello Matlab Team,

I have a Matlab 2017 student license. However, I need an older Matlab version for an old code base. The most suitable version for me would probably be the 2013 version. So my question, is it possible with a student license to install this version? Unfortunately, in the installation process I only got as far as entering the serial number, which requires a different length than that of my 2017 version. Perhaps you could provide a detailed answer to this, as everything I have read on this so far has either been written in an incomprehensible way or not quite appropriate to my circumstances. This should not be misunderstood as a nasty comment, as I am basically satisfied with your product. I hope you can help me with my problem.

In theory, yes, if you can get a copy.

Student license have used the same format since r2007b.

However it is common to get confused between Activation Key, and File Installation Key.

Student license do not use serial numbers.

Mathworks has free installation support even for student licensing.

that's great to hear, of course. However, I must have obviously expressed myself in an incomprehensible way. How do I install r2013a? The very first sentence of your answer is a bit irritating, as it says: "In theory, yes, if you can get a copy." r2013a downloaded from your website under my account quite easily. From then on, your description gets confusing. The installation process clearly asks for the serial number. You claim this is not the case with student versions. Anyway, I have to enter a number called Serial Number. Whatever this number is, where do I get it? Please give me clear hints and not vague descriptions.
