The developed MATLAB simulation models the charging behavior of a Lithium-ion battery pack using a Constant Current–Constant Voltage (CC-CV) charging strategy, which is widely used in electric vehicles and energy storage systems. The battery pack is configured with 4 cells in series and 3 cells in parallel, which increases the overall pack voltage and capacity. Each cell is characterized by its open-circuit voltage curve, internal resistance, and thermal properties.
During the Constant Current (CC) phase, a fixed charging current is applied to the battery pack. As the battery begins to charge, the State of Charge (SOC) gradually increases and the terminal voltage also rises. When the pack voltage reaches its upper voltage limit, the control method switches to the Constant Voltage (CV) phase, where the charging voltage is held constant. In this phase, the charging current naturally decreases as the battery approaches full charge
