demo type name

Description

demo displays a list of MathWorks^® featured examples in your system web browser.

demo type lists the examples for the specified product.

demo type name lists the examples for products other than MATLAB^® or Simulink^®.

Input Arguments

type — Product name or type

"matlab" (default) | "simulink" | "toolbox" | "blockset"

Product name or type, specified as "matlab", "simulink", "toolbox", or "blockset". For products other than MATLAB or Simulink, you must also specify a name input that corresponds to the product short name.

Example: demo matlab

Example: demo toolbox statistics

name — Product name other than MATLAB or Simulink

string scalar | character vector

Product name other than MATLAB or Simulink, specified as a string scalar or character vector. Specify the product name using the product short name. For example, to display product examples for the Computer Vision Toolbox™, specify type as toolbox and name as vision.

Tips

• To access third-party and custom examples without using the demo command, open your system web browser and navigate to the documentation home page. On the left side of the home page, click Supplemental Software. Then, click the name of the third-party or custom documentation that you want to access.

Version History

Introduced before R2006a

R2024b: Full product names no longer supported

When using the demo function to open examples for products other than MATLAB and Simulink, full product names are no longer supported. You must use the product short name instead.

For example, to open the examples for the Computer Vision Toolbox, use the command demo toolbox vision.

R2024b: Product examples open in your system web browser

When you access product examples from an installed version of MATLAB, the examples now open in your system web browser. Previously, examples opened in the Help browser. As part of this change, the Help browser has been removed.
