Use Files on the Cloud

You can upload files from a computer to the cloud and use MATLAB® Mobile™ to run them. For example, if you upload myfile.m to the cloud, you can type the file name in the MATLAB Mobile command window to run it. You can also upload images and videos from your mobile device to your MATLAB Drive™.

Access to the MathWorks® Cloud requires a MathWorks Account. For access to all the features of MATLAB Mobile, you must have a valid MATLAB license:

  • This license must be linked with your MathWorks Account.

  • Your license must be current on MathWorks Software Maintenance Service.

Without a license, you can still use MATLAB Mobile with limited functionality. For more information, visit Connect to the Cloud.

Access Cloud Storage

  1. Log in to your MathWorks Account, or create a new one at

  2. Go to MATLAB Drive online ( and upload files. With only a MathWorks Account, you get 250 MB of cloud storage on MATLAB Drive for your files.

To increase your storage quota to 5 GB, link a valid license to your MathWorks Account.

To link a license with your MathWorks Account or to make sure your license is current on Software Maintenance Service:

  1. Go to License Center, and click My Account in the upper-right.

  2. Click Manage My Licenses in the menu on the left. License Center displays the list of licenses linked with your account.

  3. If no licenses are linked with your account, click Add License and follow the online instructions.

  4. To verify that the Software Maintenance contract is up-to-date, view the License Details for the license and check the Maintenance End Date.

If the Software Maintenance Contract is expired, contact your MathWorks Sales representative for assistance.

Upload Images and Videos from Mobile Device

Share multiple images and videos from apps on your mobile device to your MATLAB Drive. Note that you cannot upload other types of files from a mobile device to your MATLAB Drive.

Using MATLAB Mobile

To upload images and videos from MATLAB Mobile to MATLAB Drive, you must be connected to the cloud.

In the Files browser, click to access applications with which you can take a photo, record a video, or select existing pictures and videos. All images and videos uploaded through this MATLAB Mobile menu automatically go to your current MATLAB Drive folder, as shown in the Files list.

When you take a picture or video through this menu, MATLAB Mobile saves it to your device before uploading.

Using Device Operating System or Applications

Use the Share button through the device OS or any application that supports uploading images and videos.

If this is the first time you are uploading to your MATLAB Drive and you do not see the MATLAB Drive button, tap the Share button, then More, and enable MATLAB Drive.

Copy File Path

Swipe a file in the Files list to copy the full path to memory. You can then paste it to the command window, a script, or anywhere you want the full path to that file.
