How to develop a 3D Cartesian mesh generator on MATLAB ?

How to begin writing the program ? it consists of importing a geometry from ProE in the form an .stl file and then meshing it. I am completely new at this any help would be highly appreciated.

You can do this with the PDE Toolbox using new features introduced in R2015a. More details are here: http://www.mathworks.com/help/pde/ug/create-and-view-3-d-geometry.html
