How to deternine the number of open labs.

After running "matlabpool open", there is an integer in the lower right hand corner of the Matlab window which gives the number of open "labs". Is there a command which will return this same number - the number of open labs? Thank you.

matlabpool('size')

matlabpool('size') returns the size of the worker pool if it is open, or 0 if the pool is closed. In this functional form, you can assign the output to a variable.
