Description

ALP-UDR is a protective relay capable of running user-defined algorithms created from MATLAB® and Simulink®. The ALP relay also contains the standard protection function and features of a protective relay. Users can now create control and automation models and algorithms in a ruggedized substation. Applications include the creation of customized PMU algorithms, subsynchronous resonance detection, microgrid controllers, Smart Grid monitor and control, recloser control, wide area monitoring, System Integrity Protection Schemes (SIPS), unbalance protection for large fuseless capacitor banks, innovative protection algorithms, and various other Smart Grid applications. Gentec also collaborates with researchers and developers to industrialize the user-defined algorithm embedded in the ALP protective relay series.

ALP-UDR enables user defined algorithms from MATLAB and Simulink on top of the ALP hardware platforms, including the ALP-2000 and ALP-4000 series. Users can simply create their algorithms as Simulink models, include the Gentec mapping modules and Gentec Toolbox (for IO mapping and standard functions), and then generate C++ code using Embedded Coder. Gentec provides embedded development tools for compiling the application, and downloading to the relay DSP.

Electrical utilities engineers, researchers, and graduate students use Gentec products because of its flexibility, simplicity, and ability to provide model-based design solutions. Having both the solution and the simulated network in the same development environment also reduces implementation time and mistakes.
