Ansys Motor-CAD is a dedicated electric machine design tool for fast multi-physics simulation across the full torque-speed operating range.
Motor-CAD provides the ability to perform multi-physics simulation of electric machines quickly and easily with embedded electromagnetic, thermal, and mechanical analysis. This is done using an integrated system of software packages: EMag, Therm, and Lab. The results are presented and post-processed in an easy-to-understand format that allows design decisions to be taken efficiently.
Motor-CAD has several options for connecting motor models to Simulink® and Simscape™:
- Export reduced order FEM Parameterized models for Permanent Magnet, Electrical Excited and Induction machines. These models are used to parameterize a Simscape™ Electrical™ block (e.g. FEM parameterized PMSM).
- Export motor efficiency map
- Co-simulation of the Motor-CAD Lab and Thermal model using an FMU
- Thermal model export with variable thermal resistances to Simulink as a state-space matrix to be solved. (required only MATLAB and Simulink).
