NIRx Training Services

NIRx advises researchers who use NIRx fNIRS devices on open-source MATLAB-based products. NIRx supports both commonplace and advanced data analysis specific to their research applications. NIRx hosts and catalogs talks from researchers on newly developed analysis techniques.Finally, NIRx connects researchers with each other when their work, analysis, and use of MATLAB overlaps.

NIRx academic partners use MATLAB for their neuroscience research using fNIRS technology. They use it to create data processing pipelines, algorithms, and data visualizations. NIRx helps to collaborate and disseminate training videos and documentation, as well as assist researchers in using these tools.

NIRx website-based Help Center centralizes these video and written resources. It also provides links to third-party resources from other experts on the topic.

Some of the applications NIRx support are:

• NIRS-Toolbox: An analysis program based on MATLAB for NIRS that focuses on statistical analysis for functional and resting state studies, developed by Dr. Ted Huppert’s lab at the University of Pittsburgh
• HOMER2/HOMER-3: A GUI based on MATLAB for NIRS analysis, developed by Dr. David Boas’s lab at Boston University
• NIRS-SPM: An extension to the popular SPM software for MRI/MEEG/PET imaging that allows first- and second-level statistical analysis of NIRS data
• NIRS Storm: A NIRS extension of the MEEG software BrainStorm, developed by Dr. Christophe Grova’s lab at Concordia University
