Seeking Spring, Summer and Fall Interns/Co-ops!

Calling all aspiring UX Researchers and Designers! Join our Engineering Development Group and get ready for a hands-on experience in a friendly and innovative environment. We believe in rewarding creativity, teamwork, and having a great time while learning. As an intern, you'll have the opportunity to make a real impact by contributing to a UX Design or UX research project based on your interests and skillset. Together, we'll push the boundaries of engineering and science. 

During your time with us, you'll have the opportunity to further develop your knowledge of software engineering and UX Design or Research work. You'll also develop foundational professional skills such as effective communication, problem-solving, and time management.

Mission

Depending on your interests and skills, you will work on a UX Research or a UX Design project.  

UX Designers focus on  

  • Transforming requirements from early sketches into wireframes and prototypes to address user needs and project vision. 
  • Identifying ideas to move forward into detailed design and eventually production, based on usability testing, standard methodologies, including accessibility standards, and technical input. 
  • Collaborating with development and marketing teams to implement delightful, appropriate and consistent solutions for MathWorks Products.

UX Researcher focus on  

  • Conducting user research, identifying user pains, and studying user workflows to impact strategy and product direction. 
  • Executing a variety of qualitative and quantitative research methods such as, but not limited to, user interviews, surveys, usability testing, and card sorting. 
  • Helping the cross functional teams interpret and understand user feedback and provide recommendations for design considerations based on that feedback.  

Irrespective of your project, this internship will prepare you for a career in User Experience at MathWorks starting in the Engineering Development Group (EDG).  

Qualifications minimales

  • Candidates must be pursuing a master's level or a PhD level degree in a technical discipline.

Qualifications supplémentaires

  • 3 months full-time commitment  
  • Have a design portfolio (for UX Designers) 
  • Knowledge of user-centered design, UX methods, UI/UX design, or human subjects research & experimental design  
  • Ability to grasp technical concepts and translate those to UI representations   
  • Programming experience in any programming language (MATLAB, R, Python, C++, Java, JS, etc.)  
  • STEM Major/Background (e.g. Computer Science, Human Computer Interaction, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering, Information Design, Data Modeling, Computer Graphics, CAD Design, Architecture, Statistics, Cognitive Sciences, Psychology, or other relevant degree)
