convert to homogenous background?

Hello everyone in the community, I'm trying to convert for my thesis the background of my synthetic images from eterogenous to less eterogenous or omogenous! Is there an easy way to do this?

I assume your 'h' key is broken ;) and you mean hetero/homogeneous?

Perhaps you could show us an image; otherwise I would just recommend a median filter.
