About neural network input layer

I am a new to matlab. I am going to train an image grayscale with neural network. ((i also use prewitt to edge detection))
Do you have any advice what feature i must search for my input layer? or how to decide the value of my input layer? my output just one layer.

The neural network is a tool to help solve a problem. You have to define the problem. There are many problems concerning images. If you don't have one. you can find one by searching the NEWSGROUP and ANSWERS.
