Testing Grayscale image based on objects

I have an image, I do a bunch of stuff to this image (edge tracing, filling, etc.) in order to get objects. Once I have the objects I want to test the pixels on the interior of the objects in the original grey-scale image and remove the object from my list if all of the pixel valueless are too dark. Unfortunately I can't just threshold the image, because some of my objects have dark peices. Instead, I want to test after I have identified the objects.
Any Ideas/Questions?

Where did you upload your image to? It's tough to make image processing suggestions without an image to look at. Make sure you upload the original, and the output image, even if you have to mock up the output image in Photoshop or something.
