Drawbacks of Lab color model?

Once i have read that Lab color model has Singularity problem as other nonlinear transformations? Can any one explain what it mean? or using some example

I don't know what that means. What singularity? You mean like something blows up as you approach something? For what it's worth, see attached demo that displays A-B planes for different levels of L.
