Can I combine region growing and edge detection for brain tumor detection from MRI?

Please explain how can it be combined?

Why do you think it can? It sounds like you've heard this somewhere before , like in a paper. We don't do algorithm development. I suggest you look here http://www.visionbib.com/bibliography/contentsmedical.html#Medical%20Applications,%20CAT,%20MRI,%20Ultrasound,%20Heart%20Models,%20Brain%20Models to find an algorithm first, then code it up, and come back with your m-file if you need help with MATLAB syntax, error messages, program flow, etc.

I don't know. I haven't run the algorithm. Why don't you run it and find out?
