Interactive plot: updateSystem not recognised

I am trying to make a plot interactive, by e.g. a slider in the plot by which the user can change a parameter and then see the result (in the same plot). I cannot get the code in this link http://www.mathworks.se/help/control/ug/build-app-with-interactive-plot-updates.html to work, as it uses updateSystem which my Matlab R2013a does not recognise as a command.

I reproduced the issue on MATLAB 2013a. It seems like a bug. However, I executed the same piece of code in MATLAB 2014a and it works perfectly fine.
