how can i measure area in HR satt. image w.r.t km or meters?

i am doing project on satellite images application.i want to measure area (like built-up, airport land) in kms or meters. i am using different spatial resolution images 0.41m, 0.46m, 0.82m and 1.5m etc. and how to compare my results?
