Interface C++ program to MATLAB

Hi everyone, I am in a bit of a pain here.
I am currently working on a massive C++ program, which I need to interface with MATLAB. Sofar, my plan is to create a standalone .dll or .exe file from the C++-program, and let the program load all the paramteres (there is a bunch of paramteres) along with an jpeg-image directly from windows. But now my challenge is to have the .exe-file (or similar) return a bool to my script in MATLAB. How can I do this, and is there any easier approach to solving this?
I really hope that you guys can help me!

You would need to have a mex wrapper calling your front end function from your C++ dll, then return a boolean from that mex function back to Matlab.
