Movement of Traverse via WIFI

I have a traverse which i need to control its vertical, and horizontal movement via a router. A common way of approaching this is through the routers IP address, unfortunately, i am unable to excute this in matlab.
A tutorial i have suggest i commence by typing ''u1 = openPort('10.0.0.3')'' at the command window, prior to setting traverse speed. This does not work, and I keep getting this error message, Unrecognized function or variable 'openPort'.
I will appreciate if anyone can help.
