I have cloned a GitHub repo of a toolbox that works with Matlab. It has several subfolders and a main script. The guidelines tell to first adapt several of its functions (located in different subfolders) in Matlab and then run the main script. I don't know what it means and how to do it.
A beginner here; I totally appreciate your help.

I'm not a beginner here, and I don't know what that means.
"adapt" sounds like maybe the functions are not guaranteed to run in your version of MATLAB, and you may need to update them, but that is just a guess.
What happens if you just run the main script as it is?

Sometimes what is meant is that the code has hard-coded folder names or file names, and needs to be editted for use on your system. It would have been better if the code had centralized anything like that into one place so that there was only one place to edit.
