Modelling continuous Time events

I need to model time dependent events like radioactive decay etc, so is it possible in matlab to actually have a " timer" to keep track of time and then use some probability distribution function specified by me to model it. So lets say I stop the time after time T ,I should be able to plot how many species decayed in in every second depending on the probability distribution function. Thanks for the help
