Is there a detailed description of the "Line Tracking"-Model for Lego Mindstorms with Simulink?

Hi, can anyone of you give me a detailed description of the "Line Tracking"-Model for Lego Mindstorms with Simulink? So how does the several parts work and maybe also why is it needed.
