Importing dates from excel files in Matlab 2014b

In the new version of Matlab it seems that the option to convert Excel dates to Matlab dates has disappeared when using the Import Data tool. Instead, when importing from Excel (and selecting the numeric matrix option) the only thing you can do with the dates is convert them to NaNs as they are not recognized as numbers or even dates. Any ideas where this option has gone? Is it buried somewhere or has it been completely removed?
