Create large array of zeros without MATLAB:arr​ay:SizeLim​itExceeded (perhaps on disc)

I want to create a rather large array of zeros, but run into a `MATLAB:array:SizeLimitExceeded` error as the generated array is too large.

zeros([2, 1350, 21, 2, 1350, 21]);

Is there some way to create the array directly to disc and then write to it there?

(After I am writing to the array, I will reshape and convert it to a sparse matrix.)
