Data acquisition using rs 485.

Hi all, I have to acquire data from a system that communicates via rs 485. I would like to know how matlab can do this and How I can input parameters such as baud and parity? Also, if there is a way to acquire and write data at a 10 ms to 1 ms rate. I look forward to anyone's help.
