Discrete-time simulation

Hello, I have to do a discrete time simulation in Matlab. I have to simulate a market in which purchases and sales take place. A sale or a purchase takes place every unit of time. It is as if there were a clock and at each clock an action takes place. How can I do this in Matlab? There is some library or function that helps me to do this?
