Can a Network License Manager serve a license to an end user running on a different Operating System?

Network License Managers can serve a license to an end user running on a different Operating System than the computer running the Network License Manager.
For example, a Linux server running the Network License Manager can serve a MATLAB and Simulink license to a computer running Windows.
