Initialise velocity of 2 bodies connected by Weld Joint in Simscape Multibody

I have 2 bodies that are connected by a weld joint as shown in the picture. The reason for the weld joint is that at some point, the step input disengages the joint allowing them to separate freely. The issue I have is that I initialise the velocity of the primary body in the 6DOF Joint, but the attached body doesnt have the same velocity.
I tested this by removing the weld joint and rigidly connecting the bodies and they both have the same initial velocity, but I would like to know if there is a way to still have the weld joint and have them initialise at the same velocity?
