Hello Fang,
The error message you are encountering "Unable to obtain MATLAB license." indicates a disruption in the connection between your MATLAB client and the Network License Manager. MATLAB maintains its licensing validation through regular communication with the Network License Manager. This is achieved by sending a "heartbeat" signal every 10 minutes to confirm that the client is still active and licensed.
If for any reason this heartbeat signal cannot be sent, perhaps due to network issues or VPN disconnections, MATLAB will attempt to reconnect to the Network License Manager. During this period, you will receive a warning in the MATLAB command window stating that MATLAB has lost its connection and will make 10 more reconnection attempts before exiting. This is a protective measure to prevent data loss and ensure that users are aware of the potential licensing issue.
To resolve this issue, immediately save your work and close MATLAB upon seeing the warning message. Ensure your network or VPN connection is stable before reopening MATLAB. If this warning is displayed every time you start MATLAB and you are using a license on a redundant server, then the client installation may not be configured properly. Please see "Section 7: MATLAB Client Setup" in the following article:
Hope this helps.
