Estimating object Velocity using Image Cross correlation

Dear All;

I have a video file in which an object is moving and i need to find the distance that it moves between frames . I found some examples in MATLAB for image cross correlation but i ma not sure how to use it to find distance shift. Suppose that i have two frames , then how should i select the template size and reference frame size . Then, how can i find the shift?
