Controlling a Graseby 3400 syring driver using python code in Matlab

I am trying to control a Graseby 3400 syringe driver( via USB to serial cable) using Matlab (R2015b student). Connection between serial device and Macbook Pro is confirmed. I would like to write the code in python. Is this possible? If so , how can it be done? Thanks

Not sure your exact expected workflow. Assume you have MATLAB code to control the driver, you can use Python Engine to call MATLAB from Python:
