So frustrating - Simulink and DAQ and NI, oh my

How is it possible that MATLAB can have as specific an error as

To run in a hardware-clocked output mode, this hardware requires that at least 
6 samples be queued using PUTDATA. You must pad your output with additional 
samples to use PUTDATA, or use PUTSAMPLE instead.

and yet have exactly zero help, seemingly anywhere, on what that means - at all - or how to fix it? All I want to do is send a signal to a DAQ card using Simulink - something I should be able to do with exceptional ease - and can with LabVIEW. Has the time come to abandon MATLAB?
