cameratoolbar('getmode') doesn't return anything! using Matlab 2015b

The 'getmode' input of cameratoolbar returns empty if you have not selected a mode (one of the first seven buttons on the cameratoolbar). After you select a mode, it is populated with 'orbit', 'orbitscenelight', 'pan', 'dollyhv', 'zoom', 'dollyfb', or 'roll' which matches the order of the mode buttons on the toolbar.
