How to calculate First Order Energy?

I have this equation:
Energy=sum((n1)./sum(n1).^2),
where n1 is the number of counts of the histogram..Is it correct?Because I get values near to 0, like 0,001896. Also, does anyone know what kind of values energy of First Order should have and why?
