plot contour on a polar axis

I like the new polarplot function. However, when I tried to overlay a contour plot, it doesn't work, complaining that the two coordinate systems (polar and cartesian) are not compatible. What I should do to draw contours lines on polarplot.

I can use the old function "polar" to get it work. But the polar function is too difficult to control its appearance.
