Hello all, Is it possible to Integrating address field in independent GUI as shown in MATLAB or any integration so that user can select path in GUI. Thanks in advance.

How do you envision it operating?

To check, are you asking about allowing the user to choose a path (that is, a directory), or about allowing the user to choose a file in the current directory? Choosing a file is easier.

The user must select the path where he can create the directory.

What must be visible to the user while that is being done? For example should it show the name of a directory, and list all the subdirectories in a listbox, and should have an entry for ".." at the top of the list so the user can ask to go up one level; and the user clicks on the subdirectory to enter that subdirectory (and then the list would rebuild), and so on, until eventually the user clicks to say "Okay, use the current directory to create the new directory in" ?

If so then why is it important that this be integrated into the GUI and not just left up to the operating system directory selection facilities like using uigetdir() ?

Correct !! You got it correct Mr. Roberson. The user must be seeing the path along with available directories and sub-directories. I want to integrate it to GUI for better usability and better control . Thanks a lot for your response . :)

To show all of the available directories and subdirectories at the same time, you are going to need to use a graphical representation such as the undocumented uitree() call. Your will probably have difficulty reading the result.

You will also have difficulty with any MS Windows release from XP onwards, with representing the hard links implemented by Windows Side By Side: if you are not actively checking for the situation of a directory loop then you will end up with an indefinitely long list of directories in the tree.

I really recommend that you reconsider. Having the user able to see one particular directory at a time, and its sub-directories, and navigate "up one level" or "into a directory" or "pick this directory here!" is not difficult, but having all the available directories requires building a complete map of your file system that might have loops in the tree.
