how to test and train data

I have a set of data of 1000x6,i have atopass this data to a classifier(svm smo),plesae help how to do it,by thaking3/4th as training data,remaining as test data

Indices = crossvalind('Kfold', N, K)
it is a matlab inbuilt function. go through it once.
put k=0.75 here. this will make 3/4th of your data as training data and 1/4th as test data.
