Why ANN gives this result?

I have run the ANN for prediction (curve fitting) with two different of dataset separately.The first dataset is whole 4 years of environmental data and the second ANN have run for each year separately. The mean square error (MSE) of ANN with total 4 years is higher than the MSE for each separate year I have no idea why it happens? Is this related to the generalization of the network?
