I could not import data from excel with R2016a.

I could not import data from excel with R2016a. Throws the following error with an import tool pop-up: "could not open the spreadsheet . MATLAB reports the follow error: Error : The Server threw an exception". " How do I resolve this? However, I could import .txt files, but not .xlsx
