Request: Add Regular Expression Search

Either no documentation exists (or I cannot find it) on how to use regular expressions in Edit Find / Replace. Does anyone know where that is for Matlab? If it is not available, does anyone have a workaround for doing regular expression Find / Replace in MATLAB program files in the editor?

Sorry, but Answers is not a place to put enhancement requests. If you have an idea, then send it directly to MathWorks. Click on the " Contact Us " link on the top right of your browser page.

I have this question, too, and just came across this post. I read the OP's post a few times and cannot see an explicit enhancement request (although the desire for regular-expression find and replace is obviously there). The OP was asking whether or not such a feature already exists and, if not (I take it from your answer that it does not), if anyone could suggest a workaround. Any suggestions?

If you are working on a Linux system, just use terminal commands like 'grep' or 'ack' for search and 'sed' for search replace. IMHO this is faster for such operations.
